Australian Tapestry Workshop opens

Australia's only fully professional tapestry workshop was established by the Ministry for the Arts in 1976, a place where major hand-woven works are produced by a permanent staff of weavers. The Victorian Tapestry Workshop (renamed the Australian Tapestry Workshop in 2010) has gone on to produce more than 400 tapestries, including monumental works that hang in major institutions and public sites right around the world.
